Managed Web Services
Why Managed Web Services?
Years ago, a content management system that would allow people to manage their own websites cost thousands of dollars just to build. Even then, they were not very intuitive and often difficult for both novices and seasoned web professionals to work with. It is vitally important that managed web services are part of your online business.
Our current clients can sign up here for a trouble free, quarterly WordPress updates and backup plan.
With the advent of WordPress blossoming from a simple blog into a full website management system, it became so much easier for people to manage their own websites quickly and easily. This still remains true for simple page content management, adding basic photos, etc., However, maintenance, upgrades and more advanced tasks are probably best completed by web professionals. This will help to ensure protection from hackers, viruses and other dangers which are becoming more prevalent, as the web becomes more advanced.
In early 2015, WordPress became a tempting target for hackers, due to it’s massive popularity. Some of our clients were not updating their WordPress websites properly and in a timely manner and were hacked.
How can you prevent your website from being hacked?
- Strong admin passwords are recommended. Never use something like your name, “password123”, etc. Hackers use brute force algorithms that can quickly pick out easy passwords like this.
- Make sure your file permissions are properly set. If file permissions allow too much access, they can easily be infiltrated.
- Update plug-ins, themes, extensions, and core WordPress files as soon as they become available. The reason these updates are issued is to seal security holes. Take advantage of that.
- Delete comments and users who are not authentic. Better yet, install plug-ins that will help scrutinize new subscribers and comments added to your WordPress website.
Although we encourage website owners to continue to manage what they feel comfortable with, it is still important to get a technical “check up”, periodically, and pass more advanced tasks on to web professionals.
